Heritage & Civic Architecture Photographer | Richard Fraser.
Specialist photography for heritage and civic projects. Featuring the AJ Award-winning Saltdean Lido and St John's College. Documenting public value.
Civic and heritage buildings are the stage for public life. Whether it’s a Grade I listed college or a celebrated lido restoration, my photography focuses on the technical nuances of adaptive reuse—capturing how modern interventions respect and revitalise the historic fabric while proving the Social Return on Investment (SROI).
Capturing the restoration of the Grade II* Saltdean Lido for R H Partnership Architects required a balance of technical precision and storytelling. The images showcased the meticulous concrete repairs while celebrating the building's return as a vibrant community hub. These images supported the project’s win at the AJ Architecture Awards 2025.
Working with MCW Architects, I documented the New Buttery at St John’s College. The challenge was capturing a multitude of modern social spaces within a Grade I listed setting. The project was recognised with the David MacKay Award, demonstrating how sensitive photography supports award-winning narratives.
