Following its recent feature in the Architects’ Journal, here a photographic series showcasing 292 St Vincent Street in Glasgow.

Designed by Hawkins\Brown and developed by Artisan Real Estate this 16-storey development focuses heavily on environmental performance and blending seamlessly into the historic city centre grid. The building features a stepped design to preserve historic views of the neighbouring Category A-listed St Columba Gaelic Church. The striking facade uses three distinct shades of green and teal glazed terracotta as a nod to Glasgow's ceramic legacy.

Internally the project offers 321 studio apartments alongside extensive amenities including a gym, cinema room and secure storage for 160 bicycles to encourage active travel. The development is a completely fossil fuel-free and all-electric design powered by high-efficiency heat pumps.

A Contextual Urban Intervention

The Hawkins\Brown design focuses heavily on environmental performance and blending seamlessly into the historic city centre. The building reaches 16 storeys at its peak but features a stepped design. This keeps the profile lower near the historic Category A-listed St Columba Gaelic Church, preserving street-level sunlight and historic views. The facade uses three distinct shades of green/teal glazed terracotta. This is a purposeful architectural nod to Glasgow's historical legacy of ceramic building materials, contrasted against an articulated stone frame.

Interiors & Active Living

The development provides 321 studio apartments supported by extensive social and wellness amenities. Residents have access to a gym, yoga studio, cinema room, games room, co-working spaces and cafés. To encourage sustainable commuting, the building includes secure indoor storage for 160 bicycles.

Sustainability & Biodiversity

The building operates entirely free of fossil fuels, utilising high-efficiency heat pumps for its heating and hot water needs. Landscaped roof terraces are placed on Levels 7, 9 and 11, offering open-air community spaces with native planting to foster urban biodiversity.
